COVID-19 Vaccine Supply Interruption – UPDATE - Moderna for ages 6 months to 5 years
This advisory provides information regarding the supply of Infant Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine (6months to 5 years). There was an anticipated interruption in supply projected to start on March 9, 2023, however, this interruption will no longer occur.
Ontario’s Ministry of Health has been notified by the federal government that the shelf life of Moderna SPIKEVAX (elasomeran mRNA vaccine) 0.1 mg/mL, Lot 047D22A has been extended to June 8, 2023.
Please note that this extension applies to vials of this specific lot that have remained frozen. Thawed unpunctured product of this same lot is good for up to 30 days if maintained between 2-8°C prior to first use (as usual) until June 8, 2023. All other lot numbers of infant Moderna will need to be destroyed after they have expired on March 8, 2023, regardless of state (frozen or not). As a result of this change, there will be no interruption to the supply of infant Moderna as was communicated on March 2, 2023. Stable supply of infant Moderna is expected to continue using current inventory and a future supply arriving in the province mid-April.
