Hamilton’s Accessibility Awards recognize and celebrate the achievements of individuals, businesses, youth and community organizations that are improving accessibility for persons with disabilities. These awards honour and showcase efforts that go beyond legislative requirements to foster a more inclusive and accessible Hamilton. This advocacy can take many forms, including but not limited to education and awareness, activism, community building and improvements to properties or built environments.
Established by Hamilton City Council, the Accessibility Awards started in 2024 and highlight significant contributions that enhance access for people with disabilities. The Awards are affiliated with the City’s Accessibility Committee for Persons with Disabilities (ACPD), which play a crucial role in selecting and adjudicating award recipients. Raising awareness about accessibility and universal design remains a key focus.
The Awards underscore the City of Hamilton’s dedication to supporting and recognizing trailblazing contributions to accessibility by demonstrating award recipients' commitment and highlighting their achievements to the broader community.
