Education & Professional Development

Overview
The EMS Professional Development & Education Division is responsible for the education and training of all HES EMS paramedics through Primary and Advanced Care level paramedics. HES EMS PD&E delivers inservice training, continuing medical education, driver training, educational reviews and individualized skills training programs.
The HES EMS PD&E division has embarked on finding new and innovative ways to deliver quality education to the paramedics of Hamilton. This includes internet based education, internal intranet sites, and patient care simulation.
The EMS Professional Development & Education Division also facilitates management programs for HES EMS administrative and support staff.
Along with the variety of programs provided internally, EMS Education and Development also provides education and training programs to a number of outside and community clients.
Recruitment
Hamilton EMS Education and Professional Development in partnership with the City of Hamilton Human Resources Department coordinates and conducts all recruitment drives and hiring processes.

College Preceptorship
Hamilton paramedics are a strong advocate for education and as such welcomes participation with our service for college program preceptorship.
Hamilton Emergency Services – EMS Division is proud to carry on a tradition of providing excellent educational opportunities for Primary and Advanced Care Paramedics with our service. With a large urban area and mix of rural communities Hamilton offers a high call volume, varied call types and highly experienced primary and advanced care paramedics.

Innovation, Products & Technology
The HES EMS Professional Development & Education Division is responsible for evaluating, recommending and developing proposals, projects, and implementation of new EMS equipment, resources and technology into our system. We actively look for new products, and approaches for service delivery while utilizing an evidence based approach and industry best practices.
