Hamilton Emergency Services - Fire recognize that by educating our children in fire safety matters, we will provide a foundation and awareness for fire safety that they will carry with them for life. As such, we are committed to providing that education to our children.
From our local day-care centers to our schools, we have assigned two Fire Prevention staff to deal only with day cares and schools. They provide educational programs in the form of an assembly that teach children the importance of fire safety in their daily lives and home fire escape planning. These three distinct educational programs are specifically designed and geared towards the following age groups:
- Day-Care, JK, SK, Grades 1 - 2
-
Grades 3 - 5
- Grades 6 - 8
These educational sessions are followed up with inspections of the day-care/school that ensure compliance with all fire safety regulations including the Ontario Fire Code.
Due to the large number of day-cares and schools across the City of Hamilton and in order for us to work towards our goal of visiting all these facilities within a two year time frame, we are not able to conduct individual classroom programs.
Fire Prevention staff assigned to our day-care/school program are:
Fire Safety Officer Claudio Mostacci 905 546-2424 ext. 7782 Inspector Mary-Lou MacDonald 905 546-2424 ext. 7792
Please take the time to look over the important fire safety information contained here and elsewhere on our web-site, but most importantly, have fun learning about fire safety!
