Location
The lands referred to as South Waterdown are bounded by Highway No. 5 to the north, Mountain Brow Boulevard to the south, Kerns Road to the east, and Flanders Drive to the west.  South Waterdown has an approximate area of 180 hectares.

Waterdown South Secondary Plan
The Waterdown South secondary plan will provide direction on land use, infrastructure, transportation, environment, and urban design for the study area.

Waterdown South Subwatershed Study
In June 2002, the Executive Council of the Provincial Cabinet of Ontario approved Official Plan Amendment (OPA) No. 28 which brought lands into the urban boundary. Included in Cabinet's decision was a signed Memorandum of Agreement between the Cities of Hamilton and Burlington and the Waterdown landowners. As part of the Memorandum of Agreement, a condition was included that required a subwatershed planning study be completed to the satisfaction of the former Town of Flamborough, City of Burlington, and Conservation Halton prior to any development south of Highway No. 5 (Dundas St E). The study is intended to identify ways and means to limit future flows to pre-development level, to prevent increase on down stream erosion or down stream flood risk.
