The City of Hamilton presented the third Urban Design and Architecture Awards at a ceremony at the Art Gallery of Hamilton on November 12, 2009. The awards recognize and celebrate the leading edge of design in a variety of fields such as adaptive reuse, architecture, heritage conservation and landscape architecture. A high quality urban environment creates a sense of pride, improves the image of the City now and into the future and is integral to developing a vibrant and sustainable community with a high quality of life.

A jury made up of three design professionals and two City staff selected the following ten projects from 33 submissions.
