Hamilton Municipal Heritage Committee (HMHC)
The Hamilton Municipal Heritage Committee (HMHC) is a municipally-appointed Committee of eleven citizens from across the City that advises Council on properties for heritage designation, heritage permits, and other heritage planning matters. Three City Councillors (Lloyd Ferguson, Brian McHattie and Maria Pearson) are also appointed to the Committee, which is chaired by Alissa Denham-Robinson and co-chaired by Kathy Wakeman and Michael Kirk.

The Municipal Heritage Committee also has two representative members on the Joint Plaquing Subcommittee of the Hamilton Historical Board: Kathy Wakeman and Paul Wilson. The Hamilton Historical Board advises Council through the Culture Division of the City of Hamilton Community Services Department: Christopher Redford is the staff liasion to this subcommittee.
The Heritage Permit Review Subcommittee deals with matters in the City's Heritage Conservation Districts (designated under Part V of the Ontario Heritage Act), and all individually designated properties (under Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Act).
