Development Planning Section
The Development Planning Section provides a variety of specialized resources to the general public and development community. This Section is primarily responsible for processing proposed Planning Act and Municipal Act applications, determining compliance to Provincial plans, policies, guidelines and standards, the administration of Municipal Street Naming and Numbering and providing liaison services to developers, businesses and individuals. Resources can be found in the following areas:
Business Facilitation:
- Central contact persons for individuals and/or new and growing businesses
- Comprehensive service delivery (one-stop shopping)
- Assistance with the development process for prospective applicants
- Facilitation of special projects and initiatives
Committee of Adjustment reviews:
Development Planning, Heritage and Design:
Legislative Approvals:
- Review all planning applications for conformity to Provincial legislation, plans, policies, guidelines and standards and the Hamilton Official Plan
- Coordinate, review and monitor Plans of Subdivision, condominium and part lot control for industrial commercial and residential development
- Review of special projects such as quarries (i.e. St. Mary's Flamborough Quarry and LaFarge North Quarry)
- Street naming and renaming and municipal numbering
- Coordinate City of Hamilton comments on Niagara Escarpment Plan applications and Certificates of Approval - Waste Disposal Sites
