Dundas Driving Park was recognized with the 2009 Hamilton Urban Design and Architecture award of excellence for healthy communities.

Dundas Driving Park is one of the oldest parks in Hamilton with a history of hosting many major sports, military, church and civic celebrations. After input from the public, the City initiated a Master Plan for the park. The ice rink building has become a local landmark and is sited with breathtaking views of the escarpment. The ice rink was a joint endeavour between the Dundas Valley Sunrise Rotary Club and the City, creating a feature that extends ice times into fall and spring.

The Turner Skatepark Project was recognized with the 2009 Architectural Hardscape Award.

The skatepark design is a combination of a concrete street plaza and a concrete bowl. It is a one-of-a-kind custom skatepark design prepared for the City of Hamilton. The concrete bowl features a shallow end at 1.5 metres deep (5 feet), a deep end at 2.5 metres deep (8 feet), a waterfall, steel coping and extension walls that achieve a maximum concrete bowl depth of 8.5 feet. The bowl is a popular skatepark component due to the added challenge to the skateboarder.
