The City of Hamilton, as owner of one of the largest municipal fleets in Southern Ontario has a significant influence on the local and surrounding environment. It will demonstrate leadership by:
COMMITMENT: The Central Fleet will strive for excellence in its management of the environment by applying pollution prevention principles and addressing Environmental implications in its decisions, activities and expenditures.
COMPLIANCE: The Central Fleet will manage its operations to comply with all legal, Environmental, and other requirements that the City has committed to. When council deems it is in the best interest of the Community, the Central Fleet will meet those requirements through voluntary policy commitments in the management of its operations and services.
CONTINUAL IMPROVEMENT: The Central Fleet will set objectives and targets to improve its Environmental performance and review its Environmental management system to ensure continuing suitability, adequacy and effectiveness.
COMMUNICATION: The Central Fleet will promote employee awareness of their individual roles and responsibilties with respect to achieving our Environmental policies. Central Fleet's policy statement shall be made available to all interested parties.
