Design Section

Responsibilities:

Functional Design:

Provide Functional Design Services for implementation in approved Capital Projects.

Technical Lead on Phase 3 and 4 Class EA projects.

Provide Functional Planning, Design and Estimating services to City Departments.

Contracts & Standards:

Provide and review Contract Documents and Specifications for all Public Works Capital Projects.
Provide tendering services for interdepartmental projects, including annual contracts.
Lead section in the Products and Specification Committee.
Develop and maintain City of Hamilton Design Standards and Specifications Manual.

Detailed Design:

Provide Detailed Design Services for Municipal Infrastructure projects including Road, Streetscaping, Watermain, Sanitary and Storm sewers, Combined Sewer Overflow tanks, Culverts, Bridges and Roundabouts.
Provide Project Management Services for the implementation of approved Capital Projects.
Oversee structural, mechanical, stormwater management and electrical engineering services.
Provide planning, design and cost estimating advisory services to City Departments.
Liaise with Agencies and Utilities to obtain Permits and Approvals.
Liaise with residents, special interest groups, stakeholders and client departments to review and incorporate input into the development of design and construction implementation of projects.
Award Capital Projects.
