Ancaster Transportation Master Plan

THE STUDY

The Ancaster Transportation Master Plan will build on the
City-wide Transportation Master Plan, and will establish the requirements to address short, medium and long term transportation improvements (if necessary) for the Ancaster area.  The study will provide the City with a plan to manage transportation needs safely, effectively, and cost efficiently while providing Ancaster residents with a range of transportation choices to meet their needs.  Ultimately, the plan will result in a more livable community that supports the mobility needs of its residents, businesses and visitors.

THE PROCESS

The Ancaster Transportation Master Plan will define the existing problems/opportunities, consider and evaluate solutions, and identify an optimum transportation system to the year 2031.  To comply with the Environmental Assessment Act, the study will follow Phases 1 and 2 of the Municipal Engineer’s Association Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (EA) (October 2000, as amended in 2007).  The Master Plan will fulfill the Phases 1 and 2 Class EA requirements of any Schedule B project that are identified and outline additional work that will be required to implement any Schedule C projects that are identified as part of the study.  The study will be coordinated with various initiatives, including the ongoing Official Plan Review, Development Charges By-law review, Capital Budget and the Growth Related Integrated Development Strategy (GRIDS) to promote consistency with planning strategies, coordination of long term infrastructure planning solutions and achievement of the objectives of Vision 2020.

PUBLIC CONSULTAION

A Notice of Commencement will be in the Hamilton Spectator At Your Service Ad and the Stoney Creek News on April 25, 2008 and May 2, 2008 which introduces the fact the project is being started for the specific study area.
