Arvin Avenue Extension

Background

A comprehensive study of the extension of Arvin Avenue will be completed addressing drainage and traffic conditions which must be undertaken in order to determine the construction needed. A Municipal Class EA must be completed in order to determine the location of the road.

Arvin Avenue presently exists in segments of the Stoney Creek Industrial Park. With the extension of this road it would allow for the Industrial Park to develop further. This EA will look at the extension of Arvin Avenue as follows:

  • Jones Road easterly connecting to the portion of Arvin Avenue that connects with Glover Road
  • East of Glover Road continuing from the existing leg of Arvin Avenue to McNeilly Road
  • East of McNeilly Road to Lewis Road
  • East of Lewis Road connecting down to Barton Street just west of West Avenue

See the attached plan of the study area.

Planning

The study area is designated as Industrial Business Park in the Stoney Creek Official Plan. Schedule D – Functional Road Classification Plan shows Arvin Avenue as a proposed Collector Road from Jones Road to west of West Avenue to Barton.

Servicing

In order for proper development to occur the road must be provided along with water and sewer servicing.

Stormwater Studies

Numerous stormwater management studies have been completed for this area and some are still on going which all need to be taken into consideration for this study. Those studies are noted below.

  • Stormwater Water Quality Management Strategy, community of Stoney Creek
  • Lewis Road Improvements Class EA ongoing project.
  • Watercourse 5&6 Class EA, in the start up stages.
  • Watercourse No. 7 Creek System Improvements Class EA
  • Citywide Stormwater Quality Master Plan (GRIDS) ongoing project.
  • Stoney Creek Stormwater Master Plan
  • McNeilly Road Class EA
  • Winona Urban Area Master Drainage Plan

This project would be subject to a Schedule C undertaking and Phases 1 to 4 would be required to be satisfied.
