The study area incorporates both the Upper and Lower Davis Creek Subwatersheds. The City of Hamilton has conducted a set of Public Information Centre (PIC) events to communicate the management strategies, and to provided the opportunity for input from the public. With an overall goal of sustainability, the Davis Creek Subwatershed Planning process is intended to act as a “stepping-stone” toward an ecosystem-based approach to planning within this study area. The study arose from a need for additional understanding of the ecological features present within the Davis Creek Subwatershed and the processes affecting its sustainability, so that comprehensive, integrative and environmentally responsible planning and development can take place in future.
Final Report
The Davis Creek Subwatershed Study specifically investigates the existing conditions of the subwatershed for hydrology, hydraulics, hydrogeology, fisheries, water quality, slope stability, and terrestrial ecology, and recommends management measures to mitigate impacts from existing and future development based on input from the public, City of Hamilton and relevant agencies.
