Mountview Neighbourhood Storm Drainage Study and Stormwater Management Facility Location Review

THE STUDY

The City of Hamilton has initiated a two-part drainage and stormwater management study. Part A includes a review of the suitability of providing a stormwater management facility within the hydro corridor above the Escarpment in the Mountview Neighbourhood. This was one of two alternative locations for a stormwater management facility as recommended in the Ainslie Wood/Westdale Neighbourhoods Class Environmental Assessment Storm Water Management Master Plan report (McCormick Rankin Corporation, December 2003).

Part B includes the Mountview Neighbourhood Storm Drainage Study that will review the storm sewer system in the context of the July 26, 2005 and August 19, 2005 storm events, which resulted in a number of complaints of flooding within the neighbourhood.

The Mountview Neighbourhood study area is roughly bounded by Scenic Drive, Stone Church Road and Upper Paradise Road. (See attached map).



THE PROCESS

A Public Meeting will be held for each part of the study and these will be scheduled as the study proceeds. Notices will be published in the Hamilton Spectator and will be posted on the City’s website (. Part A will be undertaken in accordance with the Municipal Engineers Association Municipal Class Environmental Assessment process (June 2000). Upon completion of the study, an addendum to the Ainslie Wood/Westdale Neighbourhoods Class EA will be prepared, if required, and made available for public review and comment. Another advertisement will be published at that time.
