Improvements to Rymal Road (Dartnall Road to the New Trinity Church Corridor)

 

The Study

The City of Hamilton has initiated a Schedule C (Phase 3 & 4) Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (EA) process to examine improvements to Rymal Road, from Dartnall Road to the New Trinity Church Corridor (see attached location map).  This study is building on the recommendations of the Hamilton Transportation Master Plan (May 2007), which recommended widening this section of Rymal Road with a two-way left turn lane, provision for bicycle facilities, municipal sidewalks and possible use of the corridor for future Rapid Transit. This study will be done in coordination with the ongoing Dartnall Road (Stone Church Road to Rymal Road) Municipal Class Environmental Assessment; however two seperate Environmentat Study Reports will be filed.

The study will include:

• development of reasonable alternative design concepts;
• evaluation of alternatives based on natural, social, economic and technical criteria;
• selection of a preferred alternative for Rymal Road;
• completion of an Environmental Study Report to document all activities undertaken.

Public Information Centre (PIC) and Public Consultation

Public Consultation is a mandatory part of the Class EA process. As such, the City intends to hold a PIC in order to consult with, and inform the residents and other interested parties of the proposed improvements to Rymal Road, from Dartnall Road to the New Trinity Church Corridor.

The City will provide notification in the Hamilton Spectator, Mountain News, and Stoney Creek News for all notices.
