THE STUDY
The City of Hamilton has initiated the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (EA) process for improvements to Watercourses 5 and 6 and their tributaries in the community of Stoney Creek. In order to facilitate proposed development within the area, existing drainage deficiencies must be addressed.
A number of locations have been identified as requiring improvement. Alternatives under consideration include:
-
Do Nothing;
-
Floodplain management through flood proofing and policies;
-
Stormwater management to control flows;
-
Replacement of existing culverts;
-
Watercourse diversion; and,
-
Watercourse naturalization
The alternatives will be evaluated based on natural, social, economic and technical considerations.
