Extreme Park Makeover -
Birge Park

Lights, camera…action!

Birge Park was the site for the TVO Giver Project's filming of an Extreme Park Makeover on August 11,12, & 13, 2011.
Birge Park was selected by the Giver Project to receive a new play structure and be part of their TVO series.

Birge Park is a small community park located in the inner city of Hamilton.
Six local youth helped design and build the new playground with local volunteers, for the community to enjoy.

In addition to the new play structure, there were new trees, an enhanced shrub bed area, a freshly painted basketball court,
muskoka chairs and umbrellas added around the pool and art boards made by students involved in the Rotary Summer Literacy Program.

Great parks make great neighbourhoods!

Well-kept parks and public green spaces boost urban economies.
They create a positive impression for visitors and make cities more appealing to tourists.
Good parks also help attract and retain residents along with the businesses that employ them.
Parks are part of the “green infrastructure” that improves our local environment.
