Red Light Cameras

The Red Light Camera program is designed to modify aggressive driving behaviour and to increase awareness of the dangers of running red lights and the related risks to public safety.  Experience to date suggests that the Red Light Camera program improves road safety as evidenced by a 6.3% decrease in fatal and injury collisions across the six participating municipalities, with Hamilton experiencing a 7.8% decrease in angle collisions, which are the most severe type of collision.
