North Wentworth Twin Pad Arena Public Art Project

Award The North Wentworth Twin Pad Arena Public Art Competition has been awarded to Andres Correa for his work Growing Together.
Jury Report The volunteer citizen jury met on October 18th to review the three short listed proposals, Growth and Community Spirit by Sarah Collard, Growing Together by Andres Correa and Community Blue by Sandy St.Denis. The proposals were reviewed in terms of the competition critera and the results of the public consultation.The Jury Report outlining their discussion and decision is available at the following link.

Public Consultation The three short listed proposal were made available on this website from October 9th to 17th, 2012. During that time 558 people visted the site and selected their prefferred proposal. Approximatley 46% selected Sarah Collard's proposal, 28% elected Sandy St.Denis's and 24% Andres Correa's. Nine respondants felt that none of the submissions were appropriate. Over 170 comments were provided. The results were provided to the jury their consideration in selecting the winning proposal. Thank you to all of those that have taken the time to review the proposals and provide comments.
Public Consultation Comments
Call for Artists A call for artists was issued in late August 2012. This call outlined the competiton critereia and theme as follows:
Competition Themes:Artists were asked to address at least one of the following themes in their proposals:
- Skating ponds and the rural landscape of Flamborough,
- Community ice, bringing Flamborough together, and
- Community/family/children growing together through sports.
The Call for Artists closed on September 25th. Six submissions were reiveved.
Focus Group A focus group including building users, artists and citizens was held on August 2, 2012 to determine appropriate themes and/or goals for artists to consider in making proposals to for this public art competition.
