  • Party prices include all applicable taxes and gratuities.
  • All food and drink must remain in the party room.
  • Any significant damage to the room or site will be charged to the host.
  • Full payment is required upon arrival.

Birthday parties are very popular and space is limited. Please book early to avoid disappointment. Decorating varies from site to site. Please inquire at the time of booking.


Pumphouse Discovery

Hamilton Museum of Steam & Technology
The Hamilton Waterworks was built in 1859 to pump clean water from Lake Ontario into the City of Hamilton. Children will dress up as the workers of the pumphouse. Through role-play, children will learn about the workers, do some of their jobs (shovel coal and move machinery), and work together to see how machines move to do work. Children will then experience a tour of the 1859 Waterworks and see where the “real” work was done. This program also includes a program-related craft to take home, and the use of a party room for one hour that accommodates up to 40 guests, and includes tables, chairs and a small kitchenette.

All Aboard! Train-themed Birthday Party

Hamilton Museum of Steam & Technology
Inspired by the museum’s famous Golden Horseshoe Live Steamer days, this new birthday party package lets children ride on a miniature train throughout the property of Hamilton's first waterworks. Children will learn about steam power and how it was used to power stationary engines like the pumphouse, and create motive power used for trains. They will make a train-themed craft, ride the train and get their own train whistle to take home.

The Water Cycle

This hands-on program allows children to learn how water was pumped into Hamilton in 1859. Children will pump water, use piping and filters to ensure the water always stays clean. As part of this program children will get the opportunity to make a “mini environment” at the museum to see the different states of water and how the earth replenishes itself everyday. Children will then experience a tour of the 1859 waterworks and see the 70-ton steam engines that Hamilton used to pump water for the city over 140 years ago. This program also includes a program-related craft to take home, and the use of a party room for one hour that accommodates up to 40 guests, and includes tables, chairs and a small kitchenette.

The Science of Structures

Hamilton Museum of Steam & Technology
Children like to explore and build things. This program lets them do both. Whether they chose to build bridges or experiment with a trebuchet; they will learn about how they work, why they are built the way they are and how much fun they can be. This program is about putting things together and seeing how they function. Children will also build and decorate a small catapult to take home. Included with this program is a tour of the 1859 waterworks and see how strong structures are built and how steam engines work.

Crazy Castings

Hamilton Museum of Steam & Technology
If your child likes arts and crafts then this may be the program for you! In 1859 two 70 ton steam engines were installed at the Hamilton Waterworks to provide pumped water for the city. However, before they got here they had to be built! In this program children will learn about the art of metal casting by trying out the technique themselves to create moulds and plaster castings of items they get to decorate and take home. The children will then take part in demonstrations and an interactive tour of how the steam engines were built and worked to create a new city.
This program also includes use of a party room for one hour that accommodates up to 40 guests, and includes tables, chairs and a small kitchenette.

Creative Me

Fieldcote Memorial Park and Museum
Is the young artist in your family looking for a fun program for his or her birthday? If so then bring them to Fieldcote Memorial Park & Museum. We offer birthday party programs with an arts twist. Topics include, texture boxes, paper quilt making and many others. Package includes instruction and supplies for each child to make a take-home craft, and the use of a party room for one hour that accommodates up to 20 guests, and includes tables, chairs and a small kitchenette. A birthday party at Fieldcote will be sure to get the creative juices flowing. Following the scheduled activities, feel free to take advantage of the grounds at Fieldcote. This seven acre property with its gardens, woodland and winding trail provides a beautiful setting for any outdoor activities you might wish to include.

Carpet Bag of Fun

Dundurn Castle
In 1846, 13 year old Sophia MacNab began her diary. She filled the book with her thoughts and feelings allowing us a glimpse into a young lady's life. In the entry from Saturday March 6, 1846 Sophia wrote “In the evening we danced and Minnie put on a mask and dressed up in a most amusing stile.” This year why not come and celebrate your birthday at Dundurn Castle just as Sophia and Minnie MacNab may have with Victorian games. Children begin their visit by opening up a carpet bag and choosing the first game they will play in the house. As they explore the castle the children play a game on each floor. Included in the price is 1 hour rental of a party space where guests can have lunch, cake and open gifts. Guests are responsible for providing their own food.

Scullduggery

Dundurn Castle
In the 19th century children were employed in large houses such as Dundurn Castle doing a variety of tasks such as sweeping out the barn, cleaning shoes, polishing silver and even assisting the cook in the kitchen. Come and celebrate your birthday this year at Dundurn Castle by trying your hand at some of these tasks. Children will make a traditional recipe in the historic kitchen with the cook, and all the children will try a variety of chores servants were responsible for in the 19th century. Included in the price is a one hour rental of a party space where guests can have lunch, cake and open gifts. Guests are responsible for providing their own food.

Garden Party

During the summer months Dundurn Castle offers a Garden Party package that includes an interactive tour of Dundurn Castle with mini-games throughout the tour, and a walk through our historic kitchen garden. One hour in the Coach House or the picnic pavilion will be provided for gifts and food. Guests are responsible for providing their own food.

Life in the Army

During the War of 1812 British Soldiers were stationed at Burlington Heights. Today, the Hamilton Military Museum sits atop the very place that those soldiers once called home. Why not celebrate your birthday like a solider this year at the Hamilton Military Museum. Step back in time and discover what it was like to be soldier by trying on uniforms, learning military drills, and handling equipment. Afternoon Tea Party

Battlefield House Museum & Park 
Battlefield House Museum was the home of James and Mary Gage and their ten children in the early 1800s. In addition to working hard on their farm, the family welcomed many travelers, visitors, family members and friends to their home for meals and a place to stay. Children begin their party by dressing up in reproduction historic clothing. They participate in baking a traditional desert by the open hearth and learn about what life was like for children two hundred years ago. They also play an old-fashioned game and have the option to make a historic craft. A visit to the 100-foot tall Battlefield Monument is included, weather permitting. Included in the package is a one hour rental of a reserved room where guests can have lunch, cake and open gifts. Guests are responsible for providing their own food.

A Soldier’s Mess

On June 6, 1813, Battlefield House Museum, then the home of the Gage family, and its surroundings was the site of the Battle of Stoney Creek, a pivotal battle during the War of 1812. Children begin their party by dressing up in reproduction soldier’s tunics. They participate in baking a traditional desert in the historic kitchen. Then, the children experience what a soldier’s life was like two hundred years ago, during the War of 1812. They also play an old-fashioned game and visit the 100-foot tall Battlefield Monument, weather permitting. Included in the package is a one hour rental of a reserved room where guests can have lunch, cake and open gifts. Guests are responsible for providing their own food.

Old Fashioned Ice Cream Party

Whitehern Historic House & Garden 
Begin this party with a trip back in time through our grand front doors. Meet the McQuesten family in photographs and explore their home and the cook's quarters in 1939. Then participate in making vanilla ice cream the old fashioned way by adding ingredients, filling the machine with ice and salt and cranking the handle. Participants will learn about the mechanics of making ice cream before electricity. And of course it would not be complete without the all important taste test served in 1930s desert dishes. The ice cream and any other refreshments provided by the hosts will be served in a reserved room with a 1930s setting.

t's a 1939 tea party, so put on your best dress! Visit the historic home. Create your own ‘fancy tea’ beaded bracelet. The stable building will be set up for ‘tea’ with patterned china tea cups, tea pots and pretty plates. The host will provide refreshments for the ‘tea’ to be enjoyed in the second hour of this special party.
