Birthday Tea Party (Junior)
Whitehern Historic House & Garden
Whitehern has three silver tea services. Tea was a part of family parties from Grandfather's time to the 1930s when his grandchildren had grown up. Begin with an interactive visit through the family home. Then enjoy your own birthday tea. Part of the fun of any party is getting ready for it. Boys and girls will wear appropriate aprons to set the table with cloth napkins, teaspoons and china tea cups and saucers. They will decorate their own personalized napkin ring and when the table is ready they will sit down and become guests. Tea with sugar cubes and milk or alternately, lemonade will be served with any food or birthday cake provided by the hosts. Then each guest will wash up the old fashioned way. They will use a scrub board to wash their napkin and will wash and dry their own cup and saucer.
