Birthday Garden Explorers
Whitehern Historic House & Garden
Begin with a visit through the McQuesten family home. Learn about the family and how the house and garden changed from grandfather's day in the 1850s, through the years when Isaac and Mary moved in with their children in the 1880s to the 1930s when their son Thomas made a few changes. Spy garden related objects in the rooms to learn how the family enjoyed the outdoors. Then take a look at our secret garden with a walk around the paths with a pair of binoculars. Get even closer to the garden's secrets at an object table with a magnifying glass. Then play a garden I spy game and find a variety of different trees and plants. Finish in a reserved room with a 1930s setting with refreshments provided by the host.
