Discover Canadian military history at the Hamilton Military Museum!

Investigate the War of 1812, the Rebellion of 1837–38, the Boer War and World War I. See a reconstructed World War I trench, a medals display and our changing exhibit gallery. There is something for everyone, including games for children.  Description of the museum collection
 

War of 1812 Bicentennial

The 2012-2014 Bicentennial of the War of 1812 will mark the 200th anniversary of significant military activity in Hamilton. The City will mark the War of 1812 Bicentennial with commemorative events and activities. Visit this site often for event information.

 


The Library

The Hamilton Military Museum library contains general reference works, military manuals and vertical files on a wide range of topics relating to Canadian military history ranging from the American Revolution to modern peacekeeping. The library is open by appointment, at no charge, for both students and teachers.

Offering over 100 annual festivals, events, workshops and exhibitions, Hamilton Civic Museums provide hours of entertainment for the entire family.

Educational and Community Programming

All Hamilton Civic Museums offer programs suitable for elementary school students, secondary school students, and community groups such as Scouts and Guides. If you would like a detailed outline of any of our programs, or if you require a customized program for your group, contact the individual museum directly.

Children's Birthday Parties

Hamilton Civic Museums offers a wide variety of children's birthday party packages. Birthday parties are very popular and space is limited. Please book early to avoid disappointment.
