Career Development Centre - Employment Assistance




If you need help looking for work or feel that you are lacking the knowledge on how to be successful in your job search, talk to your Case Manager about a referral to talk to one of our Employment Counsellors. The Employment Counsellors can help by giving you the assistance and direction you need. They may refer you to one of our Employment Programs where you can increase your skills in the following areas:

  • Career planning/labour market
  • Goal development
  • Time management
  • Job-keeping strategies
  • Career advancement
  • Learning to be confident
  • Preparing for the interview
  • Selling yourself
  • Today’s top interview questions
  • Interview preparation…practice, practice, practice!

  • Developing a comprehensive resume package

Free Services

  • Photocopiers, fax machines, computers, stamps and office supplies.
  • Use our computers to make your resumes and cover letters look professional.
  • Find jobs online using the Internet and job banks.
  • Read daily newspapers and the latest books written by job experts.
  • Links to other City of Hamilton programs, public health, child care, housing, recreation.

The professionally-staffed centre provides services targeted to the unique and complex needs of the residents of Hamilton. The centre staff work closely with employers, training providers and community agencies to meet the needs of Hamilton’s changing economy.
