How do transfers work with the PRESTO System?
The transfer window is set to two hours from the time of boarding. When you tap on to the Fare Payment Device as you board, the system will write a transfer to your card, therefore a paper transfer is no longer required. When you tap on to the next bus the system will recognize the transfer and no fare will be deducted.
Can a Presto HSR customer transfer to a Burlington Transit bus?
Yes. Travel between HSR and Burlington Transit will remain the same. Burlington Transit will recognize the transfer written to your card, no additional fare will be deducted. PLEASE NOTE: If you are travelling using a PRESTO HSR Period pass (Adult / Student / Senior Month Pass, or Senior Annual Pass), there is no transfer written to your card, therefore ask the bus Operator for a printed paper transfer.
GO Integration Using PRESTO - The co-fare and fare subsidy will be applied on a trip specific basis. The card will calculate and deduct the appropriate discount for the local trip to or from an activated GO Train station. So, a GO Integration single ride using PRESTO will be $0.50 per trip for your returning HSR trip from GO Transit. When outbound from HSR to GO, a discount of a $1.50 will be applied when you transfer to the next portion of your trip. For example, when you travel on HSR and transfer to the GO Train, the fare you pay GO will be reduced by $1.50.
BURLINGTON TRANSIT Fare Integration
On payment of a regular HSR fare (cash-EXACT FARE, ticket, pass or transfer), when transferring onto the 11-Parkdale service or other services heading into the King/James area, please ask the operator for a transfer to connect to the Burlington service once you reach the Aldershot GO Station, Burlington Terminal or King & James. This transfer will be accepted by all Burlington Transit (BT) operators to continue your trip from your transferring point. If you need to make another connection once in Burlington, surrender your HSR transfer and obtain a Burlington Transit transfer from the BT operator. The same will apply when paying your fare to Burlington Transit. Obtain a transfer from the Burlington Transit operator and surrender it to the HSR driver at either the Aldershot GO Station, Burlington Terminal or at King & James. If you need to connect to additional HSR services, please ask the HSR driver for a new transfer.
