Food Safety - Food Premises Convictions and Orders
Public Health Inspectors routinely visit nearly 3,000 food premises throughout Hamilton. Their role is to promote safe food handling practices by enforcing the Ontario Food Premise Regulation. Food premises in violation of this Regulation are required to permanently correct faults within a time period specified by Inspectors. Orders under the Health Protection and Promotion Act (HPPA), including closure of an establishment, can also be issued by Public Health Inspectors if violations pose an immediate risk to patrons.
