City of Hamilton - Public Health Services
Hamilton Prenatal Nutrition Project
The Hamilton Prenatal Nutrition Project is a community partnership that links 9 weekly prenatal groups offered by two agencies:
- Healthy Moms, Healthy Babies; OEYC Hamilton West
- Welcome Baby, City of Hamilton, Public Health Services (PHS), Family Health Division.
Each free weekly prenatal group offers a two hour session where a pregnant woman can talk/share experiences, take part in an educational activity, prepare/enjoy a healthy snack, and receive a grocery gift certificate and bus tickets.
A woman can join as soon as she knows that she is pregnant and continue until her baby is 6 months old.
Groups are facilitated by a Public Health Dietitian and a Public Health Nurse and are partially funded by the Canada Prenatal Nutrition Program (CPNP), Public Health Agency of Canada. Child-minding is provided for older children 1-6 years.
