Best Start is about providing support to children aged 0 to 6 and their families. It's about parents, educators, healthcare professionals and community organizations working together to make Hamilton the best place to raise a child.

Are you the parent of a child aged 2 - 12?
Have your say by taking part in the International Parent Survey. Findings from the survey should help Public Health Services better design supports and programs that match parents' needs and preferences. Those who complete the survey may forward their contact information to Tammy.McIlroy@hamilton.ca to have their name entered in a draw to win a Diono Radian RXT Convertible + Booster Car Seat or Family Night Out Prize Package.

Ontario Early Years Centres
There are five main OEYC's in the Hamilton area, and several more satellite centres in each area. These centres provide a variety of parenting, healthcare and educational resources and supports for children aged 6 and under. In addition, there are two centres that provide services in french, and two centres that provide services to aboriginal communities.

Hamilton Best Start Network invites parents, children, educators and early learning experts to read our Hamilton Parent Charter which will provide a consistent message to parents about the value of their parenting role and help support children, youth and their families. It also complements the Hamilton's Children's Charter that was approved by Council in 2000.
Best Start: Hamilton's Early Learning and Care Community Plan
The Best Start: Hamilton's Early Learning and Care Plan 2007-2008 includes the following submissions: Best Start Community Plan, 2007-2008 Child Care Service Plan and 2007-2008 Ontario Early Years Serivce Plan.
