Support Programs - Helping Hands

Helping Hands provides home support to senior citizens and the disabled, allowing them to remain in their own home environment. It also provides Ontario Works and ODSP participants an opportunity to learn new skills, create a current work history and gain the necessary skills to find and keep employment.

  • House cleaning
  • Rug shampooing
  • Window cleaning
  • Laundry
  • Air conditioner installation
  • Spring/Fall yard clean-up
  • Lawn and yard maintenance
  • Snow shoveling
  • Painting
  • Packing
  • Friendly visitor

How to Apply

Start by calling Helping Hands.  A Helping Hands Training Coordinator may need to visit your home to complete the assessment and answer any questions.

Eligibility is based on need and financial ability. You will be asked to provide:

  • Income - Canada Pension Plan (CPP), Old age Security (OAS) other earnings, pensions
  • Assets - cash, bank accounts, Registered Retirement Saving Plans (RRSP), stocks, bonds, secondary property, etc.

List of supporting documentation:

  • Notice of Assessment from the Canada Revenue Agency
  • Copies of pay stubs (if applicable)
  • If disabled, a letter of assessment from a healthcare professional
