Support a healthier environment and reduce traffic congestion. Join your neighbours and friends and walk, bike, bus or telecommute to work or school on Tuesday, September 22 for International Car Free Day. Smart Commute Hamilton invites you to join in one of the many Car Free activities on September 22 and throughout the week.
Bike to Work Day – 7:00 am to 9:00 am, September 22
Join in any of the 16 escorted routes from locations around the city and suburbs to Gore Park, Mohawk College and McMaster University or cycle into work yourself or with a friend. Details can be found at www.smartcommute.ca/hamilton/biketowork. Mayor Fred will be at Gore Park as he cycles into work that day!
Downtown Mass Walk – 12:15 pm to 1:00 pm, September 22
Celebrate the benefits of walking with friends and co-workers starting at Gore Park and ending at Bayfront Park where you will be greeted with healthy snacks and prizes.
McMaster Mass Walk – 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm, September 22
McMaster University faculty, staff and students are invited to join in a walk from the McMaster University Student Centre to Cootes Paradise.
Bicycle Drive-in Movie Night – Starts at dusk, September 24 (weather permitting)
Transportation for Livable Communities invites you to bike, bus or walk to the Gage Park Bandshell and enjoy a free movie night with your fellow active commuters. Popcorn included!
Secure Bike Parking Unveiling – 9:00 am, September 25
Come see Hamilton’s newest secure bike parking facility at the Hamilton Convention Centre and join Mayor Fred as we cut the ribbon.
