Sherman Access east and westbound opens for motorist traffic

HAMILTON, ON –  August 17, 2005 – The City of Hamilton is pleased to announce that the Sherman Access will be reopened later this afternoon.  Motorists may use the Sherman Access to travel westbound to Charlton Avenue and eastbound to Kenilworth Avenue.

The reconstruction of the Sherman Access was undertaken to protect the long-term value of the City’s transportation and infrastructure assets and help enhance the quality of life for Hamiltonians.  The reconstruction of the Sherman Access provided the opportunity to improve traffic flow and enhance safety conditions while re-stabilizing the face of the escarpment.

The completion of the Sherman Access in conjunction with the Concession Street Bridge realized a cost savings of approximately ten percent of the initial budget while completing the work in a timely manner.

We thank you for your co-operation and support during the reconstruction of the Sherman Access and the Concession Street Bridge.
