– The City of Hamilton, as part of its ongoing commitment to upgrading infrastructure, is completing the improvement of municipal services on Mohawk Road East between Upper James Street and Upper Wellington Street. Construction will take approximately three months to complete. The contract has been awarded to Lafarge Construction.
During construction, vehicular access on Mohawk Road will have staged lane restrictions. Delays may be expected. Local and emergency access will be maintained during these closures. Signs will be posted. Safety is our first concern, for both the public and our workers.
The work is being undertaken to protect the long-term value of the City’s transportation and infrastructure assets and help enhance the quality of life for Hamiltonians. Improvements to be completed along Mohawk Road includes: concrete sidewalks and retaining walls on the south side of the street; completion of the replacement watermain, road and curb reconstruction, and sidewalk repairs along the north side; followed by a complete surface asphalt overlay. Upgrading road infrastructure on city streets helps to improve traffic flow and ensure safe travel in the future.
Every effort will be made to complete the work in an expeditious manner and to keep any inconvenience to a minimum.
We thank you for your co-operation and support during the construction season.
