HAMILTON, ON – April 26, 2006 – Residents, tourists, young and old are encouraged to pick up a camera and shoot photos of Public Works assets and services. This is a great opportunity to showcase individual photography as it pertains to Public Works services. All photo submissions selected will be on display on the Public Works homepage of the City’s website, www.hamilton.ca/public-works .
What is there to photograph? Almost everywhere you look Public Works provides the physical daily services required to bring our City to life! Think about an average day:
- You likely use water and generate wastewater
- You might take the green cart, blue box and garbage to the curb
- You might ride on a city bus
- You might drive snow plowed roads, stop at traffic lights, enjoy the trees along the road allowance, play in the park or sports field at night, play hockey in a community arena
- You might watch the street sweeper clean the road
Even the planning, designing and the construction of Hamilton’s roads, sidewalks, bridges, sewers and much more is also the responsibility of Public Works.
Show us your view of Public Works! Selected photos will be displayed for one month and will include the photographer’s name and a brief description of where and when the photo was taken. The decision of the Public Works Department regarding the selection of photos will be final. Photos submitted become the property of the City for use on its web site and possible use in Public Works documents such as a report or presentation. View www.hamilton.ca/public-works for complete Guidelines for Submitting Photos.
