National Public Works Week Kick-off Celebration

~ Opening of the Churchill Park Community Garden ~

HAMILTON, ON – May 19, 2006 – The City of Hamilton is pleased to invite you to kick-off the celebration of National Public Works Week. Churchill Park Community Gardens will host the 2006 season opening of Hamilton Community Gardens. Make sure you have your green thumb handy so you can learn how to become involved in community gardening. Come out and meet your fellow gardeners, and find out about the new initiatives in the Community Garden Program. Join us for a live gardening demonstration by the Hamilton Urban Growers at 9:45 a.m. This event is guaranteed to bring out the gardener in you.

WHY:    To kick-off the week long celebration for National Public Works Week. This event will help individuals learn how to start and maintain their own community garden. It will also give the public the opportunity to speak with experts and find out about new, exciting ideas in the Community Gardening Program.
