~ Students join workshops to learn about future careers in Public Works ~
HAMILTON, ON – May 23, 2006 – Public Works Career Day! Public works is pleased to be hosting students from both separate and public school boards together at Mohawk College to learn about possible future careers in the Public works Department. Workshops will be both on-site and in the gym. Mohawk College, McMaster University, Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program, Skilled trades Alliance and Ontario Water Operator Training Centre have joined the day and will be on hand with displays to provide the students with all the information they need to the education or training that is required for possible future career choices.

WHY: Public Works Career Day is part of Hamilton’s week-long celebration for National Public Works Week. This is an opportunity for young minds to learn about possible future careers in the Public Works Department. Workshop categories and demonstrations include: Water, Wastewater and the Environmental Laboratory; Red Hill Valley Project; Mechanics; Parks, Forestry and Horticulture; Civil Engineering and Information Technology; Environmental; and Public Relations, Marketing and Customer Service.
