– Teaching youth how sports fields are maintained was this mornings event for National Public Works Week. Public Works staff joined approximately 120 students at Lisgar School to teach them about Turf Maintenance.
Hundreds of youth and adults across Hamilton enjoy recreational activities on Hamilton’s many parks. But how much preparation goes into bringing fields to a Level 1 quality?
City representatives provided the students with an informative event on turf maintenance, what is involved and how it is done in a fun atmosphere. The students were able to play field games while learning about coring, over seeding and top dressing. Equipment was on display and students were provided a first hand view of how it works.
National Public Works Week is a celebration of the thousands of people across North America who provides and maintains the services that bring each of their communities to life! Hamilton has been pleased to participate in this celebration. Education and heightened awareness on services provided is one way Hamilton chose to join the celebration.
