Hamilton, ON - December 6, 2007 - City Council has approved a new vision statement for the City Of Hamilton: "To be the best city in Canada to raise a child, promote innovation, engage citizens and provide diverse economic opportunities."
"This vision is the product of a true collaborative effort that reflects the input of Team Hamilton," said Mayor Fred Eisenberger. "At the end of this process, our city will be in a much stronger position to create a better future for the people of Hamilton."
At the first strategic planning session facilitated by Dr. Chris Bart on October 31st, City Council and the Senior Management Team also approved a new mission statement and core set of values to guide their actions concerning the management of the city. Collectively, the framework for the strategic plan essentially defines the mission of our local government and a vision for the future of Hamilton, while a core set of values will guide behaviour and actions concerning the management of the city.
For staff and residents of the City of Hamilton, this document represents a promise for the future and provides clear direction for where our city is going.
The recommended mission, vision, values and goals will go forward for final approval at the December 12th Council meeting.
