City Council sets new vision statement

"This vision is the product of a true collaborative effort that reflects the input of Team Hamilton," said Mayor Fred Eisenberger. "At the end of this process, our city will be in a much stronger position to create a better future for the people of Hamilton."

At the first strategic planning session facilitated by Dr. Chris Bart on October 31st, City Council and the Senior Management Team also approved a new mission statement and core set of values to guide their actions concerning the management of the city. Collectively, the framework for the strategic plan essentially defines the mission of our local government and a vision for the future of Hamilton, while a core set of values will guide behaviour and actions concerning the management of the city.

For staff and residents of the City of Hamilton, this document represents a promise for the future and provides clear direction for where our city is going.

The recommended mission, vision, values and goals will go forward for final approval at the December 12th Council meeting.

At the City of Hamilton, our mission is to provide high quality services in a fiscally and socially responsible, environmentally sustainable and compassionate manner in order to ensure a healthy, safe and prosperous community (environment).

We engage our citizens and promote a fair, diverse and accepting community.

We are a skilled, knowledgeable, collaborative and respectful organization that thrives on innovation and quality customer service.

We are lead by a forward thinking Council.

The team shows leadership in carrying out their responsibilities and is valued and appreciated for their contributions and accomplishments.
