HAMILTON, ON – November 25, 2009 – Hamilton Public Health Services is planning it’s last mass H1N1 vaccination clinic for Friday, December 4. Vaccine will continue to be available through healthcare providers and by appointment at Public Health’s regular immunization clinics.
“We’re still encouraging people to get vaccinated but we’re no longer seeing a need for mass immunization clinics to handle large numbers of people,” says Dr. Elizabeth Richardson, Hamilton’s Medical Officer of Health. “We’ve seen a drop in the number of people visiting our clinics so we will be looking at the more traditional routes available for vaccinations such as family doctors and walk-in clinics.”
Indicators in Hamilton are showing that the current wave of H1N1 activity is on the decrease in the community. Hamilton Public Health Services will continue to be vigilant in monitoring the H1N1 situation and seasonal flu situation.
The clinic schedule for the final week appears below. Clinic wait times have been minimal, but people are encouraged to be prepared to wait. If people are unable to stand in line because of a medical issue, they are asked to speak with a staff member at the clinic when they arrive.
