About Tim Hortons Team Up to Clean Up
Tim Hortons Team Up to Clean Up Spring Event is a major city-wide community clean up event that coincides with Earth Day and the Great American Cleanup. This annual city-wide spring clean up event is coordinated by City staff in partnership with Hamilton's Clean City Liaison Committee. Last year's Tim Hortons Team Up to Clean Up Spring Event attracted more than 30,000 enthusiastic volunteer registrants.
The Team Up to Clean Up Program is intended to help maintain beautification and cleanliness throughout areas of the City of Hamilton all year round. These areas include local neighbourhoods, municipal properties, community parks, trails, parking lots, alleyways, streets and so much more. The program involves volunteers who are passionate about maintaining and beautifying a specific area of the city that they care about. Get a group together and create a clean team!

Put Waste in the Right Place
-
Picking up litter and disposing of it properly makes our environment cleaner and greener.
-
Separating out recyclable containers and putting them in the recycling stream (the Blue Box program) means less garbage going to our landfill.
-
Litter can be dangerous. When litter is not disposed of properly, it can put your health and safety in jeopardy. Broken bottles, needles and sharps are just a few examples.
-
Litter is costly. It costs the City of Hamilton more than $2.3 million a year to try to keep our community clean.
-
Cigarette butts can get washed into the storm sewers and often end up in our harbour and streams polluting the water with toxins from the cigarettes.
-
Litter can harm animals, birds and plants.
-
Litter prevention is the best solution. Hold on to your litter until you can dispose of it properly.
