Renewal 2003

Every five years the community and the City put their minds to work on how to move the Vision forward in the future. VISION 2020 Renewal 2003 continued Hamilton’s tradition of working together for a more sustainable community, allowing us to take a look at where we are now and where we want to go. The renewal process generates debate in the community about Hamilton’s future, and how to reach our sustainability goals.

In the 2003 renewal the community and the City worked together to take the Vision forward in the amalgamated City with a new set of challenges and opportunities. The VISION 2020 Renewal 2003 will be an integral part of the planning process for the new Official Plan and growth strategy. The renewal process also offered a great opportunity to refine the indicators with a view toward future uses of the Report.

In 2003 the renewed VISION 2020 was integrated with the GRIDS growth strategy and the Official Plan under the umbrella of "Building A Strong Foundation".
