Effective January 1, 2010, Council appointed Earl D. Basse, FCMA, CFE, CPP, as the Integrity Commissioner. Mr. Basse is a former Inspector with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and brings with him 25 years of law enforcement with a wide range of experience in investigations and natural justice. He also holds an Honours Degree in Commerce from the University of Manitoba, is a Fellow of the Society of Management Accountants of Canada and is the former Mayor for the District of Sechelt, BC.
The Integrity Commissioner performs his duties on a part-time, as needed basis, and does not have a permanent office in the City of Hamilton. He works from his Home Office in Waterloo Ontario. The public is encouraged to contact the Integrity Commissioner direct should they have questions regarding the function and duties of the Integrity Commissioner.
