What do I do with my garbage?

There are some tips you should know about getting your garbage ready for pick up so that you don’t get an Oops! sticker.

We’ve put together a list of tips to let you know what to do with things such as:

  • Broken glass
  • Extra garbage
  • Scrap metal

  • Broken tennis rackets?
  • Chip bags?

  • Photographs?
  • Plastic cutlery?

  • Twist ties?
Do you have extra garbage that you need to throw out?

The City collects extra bags of garbage as long as you put a trash tag on it. Each year you should receive a package with trash tags in it to use as you need them.

Are you currently in a situation where you have more than one bag of garbage every week?

The City gives special consideration to households with unique circumstances such as:

  • Agricultural
  • Home-based day cares
  • Medical
  • Multiple children under four years old
Are you wondering what to do with your old couch?

The City picks up big household items like couches, tables, and mattresses on a call-in basis.

You must call at least one week before you want your bulk garbage picked up.

Do you know what the City considers “bulk items”?

There is a long list of bulk items that you can have picked up at the curb such as:

  • Mattresses
  • Pool liners
  • Vacuums
  • Water coolers
