Creating activity friendly communities in Hamilton (new)*
Activity friendly communities are communities in which various organizations, groups, families, and individuals value and support an active lifestyle. Within these communities, physical activity is accessible, affordable, and appealing for all. Physical activity includes leisure-time physical activity, exercise, sport, transportation, occupational work and chores. Since physical activity opportunities are available daily where people live, learn, work and play, people lead healthy active lifestyles.
Chronic Disease Prevention, Healthy Living Division staff members are working in the following areas to create activity friendly communities:
* Once the City's website is revamped, additional content will be posted.
- Sustainable workplace physical activity
- Park & Trail Systems that support Physical Activity
- Quality Daily Physical Activity in Schools
- Active & Sustainable Transportation
- Land Use Planning that supports Physical Activity
