Cameras on the HSR

You’re important to us. That’s why we’re investing in transit by installing security cameras on buses, ensuring you are safe and secure during your travels. You can advise your bus operator of any incident so the footage can be flagged for review. The footage is saved for 72 hours. There is no real-time monitoring of the video.

Glanbrook Trans-Cab Improvements

Starting June 24, Glanbrook Trans-Cab will run Monday to Saturday between 6 am and 2 am and on Sundays between 6 am and 1 am to better service our customers. Glanbrook Trans-Cab is an extension of HSR routes 20 - A Line, 27 - Upper James, 35 - College and 44 - Rymal (when in service).

Bus Check & Wayside

Bus Check and Wayside (digital screens inside our terminals) will now display up-to-the-minute information about cancelled service.

On-Street Signage

On-street signage (LED panels outside of terminals) will reflect service cancellations by removing information about buses that are not in service.

HSR Ticket to Ride Program

In partnership with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, the HSR is continuing the very successful program that started in 2005. For the 2018 season, Tiger-Cats fans are allowed to board HSR buses free of charge with a valid game day ticket when traveling to and from Tim Hortons Field. This is valid three hours before official game time until the end of our service that day.

In addition to regularly scheduled HSR service, there are Ticats Express Shuttles that service three different locations in the City. Shuttles travel to and from the Tim Hortons Field from Lime Ridge Mall, Eastgate Square and University Plaza. Please utilize the “Park and Ride” lots designated in each location.

HSRnow Products

HSRnow is a suite of products we’re introducing that provide real-time, 24/7 access to service information, including service alerts through multiple channels, such as a web-responsive trip planner and mobile app.

These HSRnow products are focused on letting you know where your bus is and when it’s going to get to where you are.

@HSRnow Twitter Account

Details of @HSRNow service alertsFollow @HSRnow, where automated service alerts are tweeted as they happen, 24/7. The @HSRnow twitter account has a direct line to our control room and therefore access to up-to-the-minute information.

Service cancellations are tweeted at the ‘trip’ level, meaning that each time a bus misses a trip (from one end of its line to the other end of its line), or partial trip, a tweet will be generated with TO and FROM information, including times. Each tweet represents one bus for one of its trips. This account is not monitored.

Our @HSR twitter account is still available for communication, outreach, and marketing messages, as it was originally intended for. It is monitored weekdays, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
