All City of Hamilton administrative offices will be closed Friday, July 1, 2022 and reopen Monday, July 4, 2022.

For emergencies involving roads, water mains, sewer systems, public health and safety issues, please call 905-546-2489 (CITY).

Green Bin, Recycling, Leaf and Yard Waste and Garbage Collection

  • There will be no green bin, blue box, yard waste, bulk waste, or garbage pick-up on Friday, July 1, 2022. Waste collection will occur one day later.
  • Waste must be at the curb by 7 am
  • Community Recycling Centres are closed on Friday, July 1.

HSR Bus Schedules

  • Routes that normally operate on Sundays will operate a Sunday schedule on Friday, July 1. HSR myRide will not operate on Monday, May 23.
  • Customers can plan their trips using the HSRnow suite of products that provide real-time, 24/7 access to service information, including alerts for HSR customers.
  • Mask requirements remain in effect on HSR and ATS/DARTS.

ATS-DARTS

  • DARTS reservations and on-street service will be operating Sunday/holiday service hours on Friday, July 1, 2022. Please remember that the last scheduled return time for any trip will be earlier than the end of on-street service, depending on the destination.
  • All subscription trips on DARTS, with the exception of dialysis, are canceled on Friday, July 1, 2022. If passengers need to travel on this day, they must make a reservation in advance to do so. In addition, Accessible Transportation Services customer service will be closed on Friday, July 1, 2022.

Animal Services

Gage Park Tropical Greenhouse

  • The Tropical Greenhouse at Gage Park will be closed Friday, July 1, 2022.

Hamilton Farmers’ Market Hours   

  • Friday, July 1 - Closed
  • Saturday, July 2 - Open 8 am – 4 pm
  • Sunday, July 3 - Closed
  • Monday, July 4 - Closed
  • Tuesday, July 5 - Open 9 am – 4 pm

Hamilton Civic Museums

  • All museums are closed Friday, July 1, 2022 and will reopen on Saturday, July 2.

Hamilton Public Library

  • All HPL branches are Friday, July 1, 2022. Our virtual branch is always open at hpl.ca. Regular hours resume Saturday, July 2, 2022.

Housing Services

  • The Housing Services office at 350 King Street East will be closed on Friday July 1, 2022.

Licensing and By-Law Services

  • The Licensing and By-Law Phone Queue Line 905-546-2782 will be closed Friday, July 1, and will reopen on Monday, July 4, at 8:30 am. If you have a matter that requires immediate attention such as vital services, matters regarding COVID-19, or a health and safety concern, please call the City’s Customer Contact Centre at 905-546-CITY or 905-546-2489.

Ontario Works

  • Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, the Ontario Works Offices located at 1550 Upper James St. and 250 Main St. E. continue to be closed for in-person client service. The Ontario Works Program, including the Special Supports Program will be closed on Friday July 1, 2022. The phone queue line 905-546-4800 will resume on Monday, July 4, 2022 at 8:30 am. 

Parking and Enforcement

  • Hamilton Municipal Parking Systems offices will be closed on Monday, July 4. This includes all customer service, enforcement, parking ticket adjudication/screening, and the school crossing office.
  • Special Enforcement Areas and will be patrolled by Parking Control Officers.
  • The Customer Contact Centre will dispatch emergency enforcement calls during this time.

Property Tax Payments

  • All Municipal Service Centres will be closed Friday, July 1, 2022, and reopen Monday, July 4 at 8:30.

Public Health Services

  • For COVID-19 related health info, please visit www.hamilton.ca/coronavirus.
  • Reports of suspected reportable diseases and food poisoning, call 905-546-2063.
  • Reports of environmental spills, fires, or other events that may be a health hazard or safety issue, call 905-546-2489.
  • Reports of rabies animal exposures, call 905-546-2489.
  • Safe Water Program issues that may be a health hazard, call 905-546-2489 or visit www.hamilton.ca/safewater.
  • Individuals can visit www.hamilton.ca/GetYourVaccine for information about walk-ins, booking an appointment, and hours of operation. All Hamilton Public Health Services vaccination clinics will be closed on Friday, July 1. If community members 5+ would like to receive a COVID-19 vaccine, individuals can also reach out to neighbourhood pharmacies that may be operating on Friday, July 1. Information on local pharmacies offering COVID-19 vaccines can be found at: covid-19.ontario.ca/vaccine-locations.
  • The Dental Health Bus will be closed on Friday, July 1. The Dental Health Bus will reopen for service Monday, July 4 at Norman Pinky Lewis Rec Centre (192 Wentworth Street N.). For more information, including hours of operation visit www.hamilton.ca/dentalhealthbus. 
  • Public Health hotline will be closed over the holiday weekend July 1 to 3, 2022 and will reopen on Monday, July 4.

Recreation

  • Indoor pools, recreation centers, senior centers, and arenas will be closed on Friday, July 1, 2022.
  • Outdoor Pools are open for regular hours on Friday, July 1

Traffic Violations

  • The Provincial Offences Administration Office at 50 Main St. E. will be closed on Friday, July 1 and reopen on Monday, July 4 at 8:30 am.
  • Online payments can be made anytime at www.hamilton.ca/pay-your-ticket.
