Lost Pets

What to do when you lose a pet

  • Call Animal Services at 905-574-3433 to tell them your pet is missing. If your pet has a licence or identification tag you should still report it missing, as these tags can fall off.
  • Visit the shelter no more than once every three days to check for your pet. A friend or family member can check the shelter for you. They must have identification and a letter from you which says they can claim your pet.
  • Register with Helping Lost Pets and post a Lost Report.
  • Check your contact information with the microchip company if your pet is microchipped.
  • File a Lost Report with all animal shelters near where your pet went missing.
  • Post flyers in your neighbourhood and ask neighbours to watch for your pet and check their garages, backyards and under porches.
