About Hamilton 175
June 9, 2021 marks the 175th anniversary of Hamilton’s founding as a city. Beginning long before that official occasion, the land where Hamilton now stands has witnessed many stories. Whether about belonging and settlement, triumph and tragedy or human and industrial history, these memories are woven into the fabric of the city’s people and places. Hamilton 175 will explore these stories working in partnership with the 175 Advisory Group and Hamilton’s diverse communities.
Presenting our new digital storytelling website!
On November 30th we launched HamiltonCivicMuseums.ca, a new digital storytelling website presenting a wide -ranging and inclusive view of Hamilton’s past, present, and future. That's over 10,000 years' worth of history to explore! To get started, we’re opening with seven virtual exhibitions featuring content co -created with community partners. The website will grow to a virtual platform for all Hamilton communities to preserve and share their heritage, histories, and narratives. This is the first step in developing a virtual Museum of Hamilton to complement the existing Hamilton Civic Museum websites
