2011 Tax Supported Capital Budgets

The City of Hamilton’s 2011 Tax Supported Capital Budget totalling $209,281,000 was approved by General Issues Committee March 3, 2011. The 2011 Capital Budget incorporates investments in many strategic capital projects and enhancements to the City’s infrastructure, some of which are highlighted below.

  • Construction of a new Senior Centre for Waterdown $1.3 million
  • Construction of new Rosedale Outdoor Pool $2.6 million
  • Purchase a rehabilitated Lister Building $22.8 million City cost
  • Corporate Trunk Radio Upgrades $7.38 million
  • EMS Station Greensville $0.7 million
  • Vehicle replacement of 39 pick-up trucks, 3 garbage packers, 4 sander/pavers, 1 dump truck and various grounds keeping equipment $5.89 million
  • Rehabilitate nearly 300km of roads and 5 bridges - $77.4 million
    • Major roadwork's include: Burlington Street , Dartnall, Highland, Lincoln Alexander Parkway, Mohawk, Nash, Upper James, Wellington/Victoria
    • Also includes road and sidewalk improvements to Local Roads $ 8.5 million
  • Purchase 2 new ATS vehicles for expanded service $0.4 million
  • Purchase 17 - 40’ conventional diesel replacement buses $8.3 million
  • Purchase 4 new 40’ conventional diesel buses for expanded service $2 million
  • Improvements to Transit Services $7.0 million
  • Development of Open Space (Parks) $5.8 million
  • 2015 Pan Am\Para Pan Am Games Planning $10.6 million
  • Rehabilitation of Cultural Facilities $3.0 million
  • Renewal of the various Downtowns $2.3 million
  • Airport related Land Acquisitions $3.0 million
  • Economic Development and Brownfield initiatives $2.9
