Collection Tonnage: All Waste Streams

Merging Citizen Dashboard with Open Hamilton

The Citizen Dashboard is being converted into an Open Data format, linking the Citizen Dashboard with Open Hamilton. During this conversion, the data on the Citizen Dashboard will not be updated quarterly, resulting in some data being out of date. The conversion is expected to be completed in September 2019.

Importance

Overview of the tonnage collected by program shows the positive effect of diverting waste at the curb.

Story behind the numbers

Annually, there are over 27 million pickups completed for all waste streams. Comparing the current tonnage collection and composition to previous years highlights the positive effect of diverting waste at the curb with the goal of extending the life of the Glanbrook landfill.

Performance improvements

This is a volume measure. These numbers are driven by the composition of waste streams collected. Performance improvement will be realized as the proportion of divertible waste increases and the amount of waste being sent to landfill decreases. Regular checks to ensure the accuracy of these numbers are performed by staff.
